As the first blog post I found it appropriate to share my personal story and how It’s A Mom came to life.
Of all the things I have been through in my life, giving birth to my son was by far the most real experience I have ever had. Real as in beautiful, scary, painful and empowering all at once. Self love and nourishment during this time is crucial to being the mom that you’ve always imagined - the best that you possibly can be. We are Mothers. Which means we have big beautiful hearts. Our family’s needs often come before our own. If you aren’t taking care of yourself, then something has to give and it’s going to be your physical and mental health. You need to be nourished, rested and feeling good about yourself (as much as possible). It’s A Mom promotes exactly that. The respect, appreciation and care that all mothers deserve. For as you know, the journey of carrying a baby for 9 months is not an easy one, but undoubtedly a most meaningful one.

I totally agree. Your children will become who you are, so be who you want them to be. I know that I must make sure my son will see my own confidence. My child will learn self-love based on the love he receives at home and by seeing me love myself. B'‘H, I hope to raise my son to be a man who speaks up for women and someone who knows that there is nothing manlier than being kind, gentle and comfortable in his own skin. To me, it isn’t just raising a family. It’s instilling morals, values, strength and wisdom. It’s about raising your children the right way, and therefore making the world a better place. That to me is empowering, true fulfillment and the ultimate success. Self care is not selfish, but necessary to become an even better mom. It’s A Mom box is meant to help you heal while simultaneously making you feel beautiful, as you naturally are.
The day I gave birth to my son was the day I experienced the ultimate act of giving and unconditional love. The euphoric high of bringing a life into this world was like no other and something I would cherish for the rest of her life. The brutal physical and emotional recovery - not so much. A vacuum delivery and my son’s adorable, but off the charts size, head left me with a lovely 33 stitches to boot!
Sent home after a short two day stay in the hospital, I layed in bed, overcome with emotion, with pain way past crying. How on earth was I going to care 24/7 for a newborn baby if my physical pain was so intense that I could barely get out of bed to go to the bathroom, let alone go up and down the 3 flights of stairs in her house?!?
At that exact moment, as if connected by a sixth sense, my close friend Aj called to ask how I was feeling (really feeling!). I didn’t sugar coat it, the pain was unbearable! In a matter of seconds, Aj magically appeared and like Mary Poppins, opened her bag and out came soothing witch hazel pads, frozen ice packs, nipple cream, protein bars, candles and lavender oil (and a large pot of chicken soup for good measure). She turned on spa music, lit candles and massaged my neck and even my toes with lavender oil until I finally fell asleep. Oh right, and minor detail - Aj was nine months pregnant at the time! Yeah, we know, moms are definitely superheroes.
When I woke up, I felt like a new person - refreshed, rejuvenated, loved and cared for. Then it hit me, Aj - in a box! And the rest was history - It’s A Mom box was born.
